Spring Trip to Chicago
April 27 – May 2
An opportunity to share art and friendship with docents in one of Americas greatest cities. Please contact Cindy Anderson at [email protected] to join the email list for future information. Highlights will include a visit to The Art Institute of Chicago, Architecture River Cruise, Frank Loyd Wright House and Studio, and a visit to Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate.
May 30 – Docent Graduation and Service Recognition, 4:00-6:00. Location TBD.

September 18 – Fall orientation 2024. Welcome from Director Amanda Cruz, security review from Huber Gaudarrama, and updates from the docent council board.
October 16 – Dane Goodman local artist will present on POOCH: The Art Full Life of Keith Julius Puccinelli.
October 28 – Bus Trip to The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens.
November 6 – Isabel Barbussa, artist and past SBMA employee will speak about her work in “Accrection: Works by Latin American Women”.
November 20 – James Glisson will present his vision of the new reinstallation of Ridley-Tree Gallery.
December 4 – Following a short presentation on the 2024 National Docent Symposium in the auditorium, James Glisson and Allyson Healey will give an in depth gallery talk on the Ridley-Tree reinstallation at 10:15 in the gallery.
December 9 – Holiday Party 4-6pm at the home of Cindy Anderson, 980 W. Mountain Dr. SB 93103. Carpooling is requested.
January 15 – Allyson Healy will speak on “Provenance”
February 5 – Luke Roberts from UCSB Japanese History will lecture on “Samurai Warrior Armor”.
February 19 – Charlie Wiley, Curator of Photography will speak on “Sea of Ice: Echoes of the European Romantic Era”.
March 5 – Susan Tai will speak on “Tibetan Art”.
March 19 – James Glisson on “Elliott Hundley; Proscenium”.
